MECM Discovery Phase

In order to inventory and catalogue workstation resources in a remote domain environment, our most effective discovery tool is MECM, so the initial discovery utilizes an established AUTH MECM discovery process. Broadly:

· Establish trust relationship and delegate access as needed to facilitate an advertisement of MECM configs across the domain boundary.

· Setup discovery scripts to inventory computers and groups not in AUTH.

· Evaluate resources reported, confirm and validate inventory with unit support administrators.

· Provide admin training to better understand the scope and requirements for further actions.

Decision Point and Branching Onboarding Paths

Based on the output of the MECM Discovery Phase, unit needs and strategic direction are assessed and determined by the Academic & Business Unit IT teams and their leadership, in consultation with the UEM and ISO teams. This evaluation and decision will determine which of the three paths and service levels best meets the needs of the unit.

Each path description provides a structured approach to onboarding, ensuring all units are aligned with unified organizational standards and have the training and support needed for successful management with either MECM or Intune, and addresses the different onboarding scenarios based on organizational needs.

Initial (Common) Platform Configurations:

Regardless of current Intune adoption decisions, the creation of management structures in AUTH MECM are highly recommended to allow for more flexibility for units in management of current and future resources.

Key actions:

· Create AUTH delegated access for each unit

· Create Intune access (optional, workstations only)

· Create new AUTH Proof of Concept (PoC) objects (groups & computers)
